Our Story

From waste to wonder, from challenge to opportunity - this is how reknit transforms lives and the environment.

It Started with Waste

Walking through a textile factory, we witnessed mountains of 'waste' - beautiful fabrics discarded simply because they didn't meet exact specifications. These materials, perfectly functional and vibrant, were destined for landfills.

But we saw something different. Where others saw waste, we saw opportunity. Where others saw the end, we saw a new beginning. That moment sparked the birth of reknit - a vision to transform discarded textiles into beautiful, functional products.

Yet our mission extends far beyond environmental impact. We recognized that true sustainability must include social sustainability - empowering communities and creating meaningful livelihoods.

Founder's Story

The vision behind reknit comes from a young mind passionate about creating positive change

Founder - Young entrepreneur and student
Grade 12
The Doon School

A Student's Vision for Change

I am a 12th-grade student at The Doon School, Dehradun. I am currently pursuing the IBDP curriculum majoring in Business, Economics and Mathematics.

I enjoy playing football and am frequently seen on the field participating in various sports. I love listening to music in my spare time. I also enjoy experimenting with electronics, cables, and motors, as well as building things out of scrap items and at the school's robotics lab.

My strong subjects include English, Economics, and Business - skills that have been instrumental in developing the reknit concept and business model.

Passion for Community Service

I am passionate about community service ever since I was in the ninth grade. Currently I am working towards the upliftment of society through imparting education, sharing knowledge and empowering the underprivileged in need. I am able to do this through my various ongoing social services at the moment.

This passion for social impact, combined with my interest in building things from scrap materials, naturally led to the creation of reknit - where we transform textile waste into opportunity while empowering women artisans in our community.
